Astana hosts World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold

Astana hosted the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Tour featuring the first Gold-level meeting in Asia. The Astana Indoor Meet attracted 136 athletes from 45 countries, with 28 representing Kazakhstan, all competing for Amin Tuyakov prizes.  Among them are current record holders, Olympic champions, and world championship medalists. The Gold-level tournament is held annually in such cities as Boston, New York, Madrid, Lievin, Torun, and Ostrava. According to experts, this event is historical not only for Kazakhstan but also for the entire Asia, as it gives a significant boost to athletics development.

“It’s a very important competition for me, especially since it’s the first competition of the year. You can try to start off well, so it’s very important for me. Also, it’s very cool to try new facilities, to try new places. Being a part of something a little bit different for me is going to be super nice for me,” said world pole vault champion Armand Duplantis.
