Experts call Kazakhstan generator of numerous global initiatives
Kazakhstan is a full-fledged participant in modern international politics, and a generator of many important initiatives in the world arena. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev showcased this once again during his working visit to New York and participation in the General Debate of the UN General Assembly’s 78th session. He defined new contours and prospects for cooperation not only with the U.S., but also with other countries. This opinion was shared by Miras Zhiyenbayev, the leading expert of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the Kazakh President (KazISS). He noted that the events in New York, where the country was involved, are particularly aimed at fostering understanding and creating a favorable international environment globally. Moreover, Kazakhstan has long established itself as a friendly and peace-loving state. The country again initiated the establishment of the UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.
“Kazakhstan remains committed to the principles of dialogue and the rule of international law. We advocate for a new interconnectedness of the continents, and stand for clear norms and principles of cooperation. Astana is becoming the place where completely different countries can find common ground. This is evidenced by the considerable success of the Syria talks held in Astana, as well as the country’s initiatives for a peaceful resolution of the situation in Afghanistan,” the KazISS expert said.
