Kazakhstan explores new oil and gas reserves

Kazakhstan is set to conduct exploration for oil and gas in previously unexplored areas across three regions. According to the national company, extensive analysis of historical materials, geological and geophysical data processing, and basin modeling have been conducted in the country. Consequently, the concept of geological exploration development has been revised towards identifying and exploring previously untapped areas showing promising prospects. Five new prospective zones within the country’s main oil and gas basins have been identified, including one in the Aktobe region, another in the West Kazakhstan region, and three more in the Mangystau region. These areas are currently being explored under a geological subsoil study license obtained two years ago. As of today, field seismic surveys have already been completed for three of these zones, with processing and interpretation of the results currently underway.
