Kazakhstan plans to launch five major renewable energy projects by 2030

Kazakhstan is set to launch five major renewable energy projects by 2030. According to the Energy Ministry, the projects are currently progressing through various stages of development. It is noteworthy that renewable energy sector has shown steady growth, with its installed capacity increasing by over 16 times since 2014, surging from 178 megawatts to 2,868 megawatts last year. In 2023, the electricity output generated by renewable energy facilities exceeded 6.5 billion kilowatt-hours, which is about six percent of all electricity produced in Kazakhstan. The country now operates 146 renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 2.8 gigawatts.
