Kazakhstan to present top 20 tourist attractions in China

The top 20 domestic tourist attractions will be presented in seven major Chinese cities this year as part of the Year of Kazakhstan’s Tourism in China. A series of other events will be held throughout the year as well. The parties have approved a special plan that includes thematic meetings on various types of tourism, such as ecological, medical, agritourism, urban, MICE, and space travel.

“Numerous events are scheduled for this year. Jointly with state and local executive bodies, it is planned to hold over 20 events both in China and Kazakhstan. Furthermore, the official opening ceremony of the Year of Kazakhstan’s Tourism in China will take place in March,” said Nurtas Karipbayev, spokesperson for the Kazakh Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

The influx of tourists from China to Kazakhstan has experienced a twelvefold increase, directly linked to the introduction of a mutual visa-free regime in November 2023, as highlighted by industry specialists. In 2022, Kazakhstan welcomed 18,000 visitors from China, while currently, this figure stands at 217,000. Moreover, there has been a threefold increase in tourist arrivals from India. Following the introduction of a 14-day visa-free regime, the number of Indian visitors rose from 28,000 in 2022 to 78,000 last year.
