New international trade and logistics center opened in Kazakhstan

A new international trade and logistics center has started operating at the Kazakhstan-China border. According to the Kazakh Ministry of Transport, the project will increase the throughput capacity of the Alakol checkpoint of the Dostyk customs from 200 to 600 freight trucks per day, which, in turn, will boost the daily cargo turnover from 4,000 to 12,000 tonnes, reaching a total of three million tonnes annually. It should be noted that the logistics center was built with nearly three billion tenge of private investments.

“Kazakhstan is a large transportation and logistics hub. There are plans to open hubs for processing and storing cargo in the future, as instructed by the Head of State. The transportation and logistics center is, for its part, the first hub on the eastern borders,” said Maksat Kaliakparov, Kazakh Vice Minister of Transport.
