Flour prices predicted to rise in Kazakhstan

Wheat export prices rose sharply amid the drought in Central Asia. The Grain Union reports that Kazakh grain has risen in price in recent weeks. Importers give US$265, which is over 112,000 tenge, per tonne of third-class wheat. The domestic price also rose to 105,000 tenge (US$248). The Union predicts that such a jump will affect the price of flour in Kazakhstan already in a month and a half. According to experts, following current forecasts, in order to keep food prices from rising, the Food Contract Corporation needs to additionally purchase at least 200,000 tonnes of wheat and the same amount of feed grains.
