Uzbekistan’s melon, watermelon exports rise fivefold

Kazakhstan became the main importing country for melons and watermelons from Uzbekistan. According to the Committee on Statistics of the neighboring state, in six months, local farmers supplied melons and gourds to 14 countries. The income totaled US$7.4 million. Uzbekistan exported 22,800 tonnes of melons and gourds, wherein almost half was purchased by Kazakhstan. Exports of melons and watermelons rose fivefold comparing to last year.
