Kazakhstan and Russia enhance cooperation

Kazakhstan and Russia are expanding cross-border cooperation. Despite the pandemic, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the Astrakhan region for the first half of this year amounted to US$8,200,000. 34 enterprises with the participation of Kazakh capital are registered in the region. The opening of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Astrakhan as well as the forthcoming Forum of Interregional Cooperation in Kokshetau this fall will boost partnership. The parties note the great potential in the field of tourism.

“In the near future, the construction of a large tourist liner ‘Peter the Great’ will be completed. This liner will be cruising across the Caspian Sea, entering the ports of all coastal states. You know that great efforts are being made in Aktau to develop the tourist zone, hotels are being built. I think that Aktau will gladly welcome tourists from Russia and other countries,” said Yermek Kosherbayev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia.

“The level of mutual relations, the level of commodity exchange between our countries, in general between Kazakhstan and the Astrakhan region invariably shows growth, and we intend to continue this trend. Today we are actively discussing with our partners prospects for further growth in various areas, including industry, manufacturing, and agriculture, tourism and cultural exchange,” added Igor Babushkin, Governor of Astrakhan Region, Russia.

Humanitarian cooperation is also intensively developing: the Kurmangazy Cultural Center successfully works in the Astrakhan region, about 1,500 Kazakh students study at regional universities.
