Kazakh government to allocate US$3 billion for modernization of villages

Financing of the “Auyl – yel besigi” project was increased up to 800 billion tenge (US$1.8 billion). Such volumes are calculated for the next four years. Overall, taking into account national projects, 1.3 trillion tenge (US$3 billion) is planned for the modernization of villages, said Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin at the Government’s meeting. The program will cover 3,500 villages with development potential. This will improve the quality of life of nearly 7 million people that comprise 90 percent of the rural population. The funds allocated will be used to improve their welfare. New social facilities and educational institutions will be built in the regions, so that children aged from 3 to 6 would be fully covered by preschool education. High-speed Internet access will appear in villages. 24 million square meters of housing will be commissioned. 95 percent of the roads will be improved. The shortage of specialists will be also resolved.

“In 2025, 100-percent provision of water supply services will be achieved in rural areas, the condition of 10,000 kilometers of intra-village roads will be improved, 12,000 kilometers of engineering networks, 1,100 healthcare facilities, 1,700 facilities of sport and 1,500 of culture will be built and restored, 5,000 rural schools will be modernized. Labor productivity will grow 2.5 times, 500,000 jobs will be created, and a million rural residents will be able to increase their incomes. The activities of the “Auyl – yel besigi” project will significantly improve the quality of lives of rural residents and give a new impetus to the development of rural areas,” Mamin said.
