Kazakhstan implements 17 investment projects in agriculture industry worth US$50.6 million

Investments in the agro-industrial complex are breaking records. In the first 11 months of this year, about 660 billion tenge (US$1.5 billion) was invested in this area, which is 40.5 percent more than last year. Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev outlined prospects for the development of this sector at the Government’s meeting. According to him, a pool of investment projects with a total value of 4.4 trillion tenge (US$10.1 billion) was created within the Roadmap for the development of the agro-industrial complex for 2021-2025. Almost half or two trillion tenge (US$4.6 billion) investment went to meat production and the construction of greenhouses in the country. Also, Kazakhstan intends to strengthen the development of feedlots, multipliers, slaughterhouses and meat processing plants. As for dairy farming, investments are made in 186 projects involving 452 billion tenge (US$1 billion). There are also plans to open 47 poultry farms in Kazakhstan and launch 73 projects in the field of processing plant products. In addition, the sugar supply will be increased to 80 percent within five years. 228 billion tenge (US$525.3 million) will be allocated for these purposes.

“According to the results of 11 months of this year, out of 285 projects planned for 2021 worth 263 billion tenge (US$605.9 million) as part of the approved road maps, 268 projects totalling 241 billion tenge (US$555.2 million) have already been put into operation. According to the local administrations, it is planned to implement 17 projects worth 22 billion tenge (US$50.6 million) by the end of this year. North Kazakhstan, Kostanai, East Kazakhstan, Akmola and Karagandy regions are the leaders in terms of the number of implemented projects. The execution rate for investment projects in 2021 amounts to 94 percent,” Karashukeyev said.
