Experts discuss increase in volume of cargo transportation through Trans-Caspian Route

Experts discussed logistic capabilities, growth prospects of trade and other relevant issues at the international shipping conference, which was held in the city of Poti, Georgia. The largest port of the eastern Black Sea coast is located there. The Kazakh delegation also took part in the forum. The cargo traffic through the Caspian route became the most demanded due to the geopolitical situation. It should be mentioned that Kazakhstan and Georgia have partnership relations. The trade turnover between the two countries amounted to US$88 million last year, having increased by 57 percent over two months of 2022.

“Georgia is a very important point for Kazakhstan’s trade not only for exports to Southern Europe and Turkey, but also for imports through Georgian ports. As part of the signed declaration, we plan to discuss the creation of joint ventures with Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey and the further development of the cargo corridor,” said Azamat Askaruly, General Director of Qaztrade Center for Trade Policy Development.
