Rail transport grows in Kazakhstan

Rail transport volumes are growing in Kazakhstan. Thus, passenger traffic increased by 37 percent over the year, while freight transportation increased by four percent, Finprom.kz portal reports. In total, the passenger traffic amounted to over 5.5 million people. In the first four months of this year, the revenues of companies in the field grew by 15 percent in value terms, reaching 400.5 billion tenge. Most of it traditionally came from the transportation of goods. From January to April, Kazakhstan’s railway companies transported over 140 million tonnes. The largest volume of cargo transportation is observed in the Karagandy and Aktobe regions, as well as in the capital.
