Kazakhstan and South Korea expand cooperation

New directions of Kazakh-Korean cooperation were discussed at a forum of Eurasian cities in South Korea. Kazakh Ambassador to this country Bakyt Dyussenbayev in his speech noted that the volume of mutually beneficial partnership between Seoul and Nur-Sultan is growing rapidly. Last year, the trade turnover amounted to US$3.2 billion, whereas figures over five months of this year have already exceeded US$2 billion. The countries also intend to develop their transit potential. South Korea is currently revising the routes for the supply of its goods to world markets due to the complicated global geopolitical situation. Central Asian region has a lot to offer.

“Many supply chains of goods are disrupted. For example, the Belt and Road corridor, the European TRACECA and so on. Different corridors cover Central Asian region to some extent. The countries in this area have a great potential in the fields of production, processing of agricultural products and food security,” said Bakyt Dyussenbayev, Kazakh Ambassador to South Korea.

“President of Kazakhstan does a lot for advanced political progress and democratization. Kazakhstan and South Korea should pay attention to collaboration in education and healthcare for better security of human life. We could become partners in the areas of insurance, healthcare and welfare,” noted Gu Ho Eom, Director of the Asia-Pacific Research Center.
