Investment in Kazakhstan’s mining industry on rise

The volume of investments in fixed assets of the mining and quarrying industry amounted to 2.7 trillion tenge over the eight months of 2022, Finprom.kz reports. In monetary terms, this is 16 percent more compared to the same period of last year. The share of investments in this area has reached two thirds of the total investments volume in the industry and one third in the entire economy from January to August. Moreover, 85 percent of all funds in this segment falls on the country`s oil and gas producing regions. For example, over 1.5 trillion tenge is accounted for the Atyrau region, almost 336 billion for the Aktobe and above 198 billion for the Mangystau. Significant volumes of investments were also observed in the Kostanai and Kyzylorda regions. Almost 90 percent of all capital investments were provided by the businesses’ own funds. Slightly less was accounted for private credits and bank loans.
