Kazakhstan cooperates with Turkey on KazSat satellite replacement

Kazakhstan and Turkey intend to expand their partnership in the field of space technologies. In particular, the parties plan to cooperate as part of the project aimed at the replacement of the KazSat 3 satellite with KazSat 3R. Kazakh Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry Bagdat Mussin reported on the outcome of the meeting held in Turkey with representatives of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency and Turkish Aerospace. He highlighted that Kazakhstan is interested in the experience in the technical developments gained by Turkish space technology manufacturers, especially since there is a need to create a more advanced satellite pending the decommissioning of KazSat 3. This will ensure the continuous provision of broadcasting and communication services. The technical documentation, as well as the final calculations, should be ready by February.

“Considering that Turkish Aerospace Industries is ranked among the world’s top 100 defense companies in the aerospace industry, we will benefit from the experience of our colleagues who have already produced a dozen satellites. I hope that our country will be able to increase satellite production to the same level,” Mussin said.
