Kazakhstan increases coal exports

Kazakhstan plans to export 19 million tonnes of coal abroad in 2021. Overall, 68 million tonnes of coal have been produced in the country since the beginning of the year. Kazakhstan has already exported over 11 million tonnes to Russia and over three million tonnes to Europe. In addition, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Belarus also purchased domestic coal. Much of the coal in the local market is used by energy companies. 40 million tonnes have been allocated for this purpose. Kazakhstan ranks among the top ten countries in terms of coal reserves. More than 90 percent of the deposits are located in the north and central part of the country. In total, over 30 years, Kazakhstan exported 750 million tonnes of coal.
