Kazakhstan develops automotive industry

Kazakhstan is increasing its automobile manufacturing output. Over 77,500 cars were produced in the country last year, which is one and a half times more than in 2019. The experts clarified that the country actively manufactures not only cars, but also buses and special equipment. The export potential increases along with the growth in the production output of Kazakh automotive industry. Cars made in Kazakhstan are in high demand in neighboring countries.

“In 2020, more than 8,000 cars were exported to the CIS countries, including Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic and Belarus. This is due to the correct policy between the countries, correct policy of Kazakh Foreign Ministry, of plants in that they cooperate with other manufacturers, other dealers and distributers in other countries,” said Yerbol Seipilov, Director for Technical Regulation of the Association of Kazakhstan Automobile Business.

Experts stated that supplies of Kazakh-made automobiles abroad will grow every year because of several factors. This is primarily the state support and an increase in automobile production. The country is set to produce nearly 100,000 cars by the end of this year. At the same time, Kazakhstan plans to continue exploring new sales markets.

“The automotive engineering showed very good results in 2020. Official dealers sold a total of 93,000 cars. For example, two out of three cars that were sold accounted for the Kazakh production. Launching of new manufacturing facilities also played an important role in 2020. The first one opened in Kostanai city, then in Almaty city. Bus manufacturing plants opened in Karagandy region as well as in Saran city, which launched a new project for the production of tires,” Seipilov added.

Experts stressed that foreign investments will help open new car manufacturing plants and expand the product line. Today neighboring countries as well as China and South Korea are actively investing in Kazakhstan’s automotive industry.
