Almaty governor reports on socio-economic development of region

Over 560 projects worth 5.4 trillion tenge (US$12.6 billion)! This is the investment portfolio of the Almaty region for the next five years. Governor Amandyk Batalov gave an account of the socio-economic development of the region. As a result of the carried out work, the share of investments in the regional economy should increase by 30 percent, he said. To date, more than half of these projects have been implemented. By the end of the year, it is planned to attract more than 800 billion tenge (US$1.9 billion) of investments, 127 billion tenge (US$295.4 million) of which have already been invested in the region. At the same time, production has been steadily growing, Batalov said. By the end of the year, production output is expected to reach 1.2 trillion tenge (US$2.8 billion), while non-resource exports will increase by six percent.

“Over the past four months, growth has been achieved in all major sectors. Thus, the volume of production increased by 15.3 percent, construction by 4.2 percent, trade by 3.7 percent, agriculture by 0.5 percent. The state budget received 20 billion tenge (US$46.5 million), which is almost one and a half times more compared to the same period last year,” Batalov said.
