Astana Ballet presents new 9th theatrical season

Modern neoclassicism and the best performances with national choreography, long-awaited premieres and tours abroad. At a briefing in the Central Communications Service, director of the Astana Ballet theatre Alexandr Sovostyanov spoke about plans for large-scale work as part of the 9th theatrical season. A unique and diverse repertoire and as many as three premiere performances are prepared for visitors and residents of the capital, he said. Among them is a breathtaking ballet about fashion, beauty and art “Dior. Ма Muse” staged by Ksenia Zvereva, “Lariats of Fate” by Mukaram Avakhri and premiere “Songs of a wayfarer” by Jiri Kylian. The theatre artists plan to present during their upcoming tour to Dubai in October the other two popular plays: “The Legend of Love” by Yuri Grigorovich and one of the best examples of national choreography “Sultan Baibars”.

“Two stunning performances will be on their first tour to the city of Dubai after a long quarantine as part of Expo 2020 very soon. The team of the Astana Ballet theatre will present these two stunning plays in one of the leading new theaters “Dubai Opera”. Next weekend, on September 25 and 26, we will go on tour to the city of Turkistan, where we will just show a block from the national choreography. We attach great importance to this. This program is called “The Heritage of the Great Steppe” that has about 70 performances,” said Alexandr Sovostyanov, director of Astana Ballet Theatre.

Also, artists of the Russian Drama Theatre on Malaya Bronnaya are planning to perform on the stage of the Astana Ballet this season with the play “Batman vs Brezhnev.” Their arrival will be organized by the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Sports.
