Kazakhstan hits record-high number of over 10,000 coronavirus cases in one day

Over 10,000 coronavirus cases were registered in Kazakhstan in the last day, wherein more than half was detected in the capital. The city of Almaty reported 1,115 infected people. Karagandy region came third with 820 COVID-19 patients.

Quarantine measures reinforced

The Interdepartmental commission on preventing the infection spread made a decision to reinforce quarantine measures in connection with the unfavorable epidemic situation and the rapid spread of the Omicron variant. From January 15, everyone arriving in Kazakhstan from abroad must have a negative PCR test result for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status.
