Investments as key driver of Kazakhstan’s economic growth

Kazakhstan is one of the world leaders in terms of foreign direct investment per capita. For example, during its Independence, the country attracted more than 180 billion euros from the European Union member states alone. As a result, more than 350 projects were implemented in Kazakhstan. They are aimed at supporting the judicial system reform, strengthening the capacity of regional and local authorities and the public sector to introduce social and economic reforms in the country. Experts stress that to date, the EU is one of the key economic and strategic partners of Kazakhstan.

“Kazakhstan has come a long way in a very short time. Tremendous progress has been made in nearly three decades. Your social and economic achievements are truly impressive. This is highly appreciated not only by the EU, but also by the international community. The prospects for further cooperation are therefore positive and encouraging. We also notice the dynamics of development in the region. Kazakhstan is actively developing its relations and cooperation with neighboring countries, which is particularly important to us. We deeply believe that this is the right way forward,” said Sven Olov-Carlsson, EU Ambassador to Kazakhstan.

The Head of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan said that Kazakhstan will continue to receive support in the future. This includes a number of regional programs, such as ‘Central Asia Invest’, ‘SWITCH Asia’, as well as the program to support international trade in Central Asia.

“We see a great potential for further development of our cooperation, again, the economy, but in a very broad sense. We also work together in the UN and OSCE structures. During this time, Kazakhstan has managed to confirm strong authority in the international community. There are many initiatives in the field of security and in the field of global challenges of various kinds, especially within the UN, where Kazakhstan is actively involved,” said Sven Olov-Carlsson, EU Ambassador to Kazakhstan.
