Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia paid special attention to cooperation in the field of education during a meeting in the Kremlin. Taking into account the demand for highly qualified engineering and technical personnel, agreements have been reached on expanding the network of branches of leading Russian universities in our country and training specialists in the neighboring state under the Bolashak program.

“The branches of the universities, which are well-known to everyone, will be opened in Kazakhstan. These are Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Gubkin University, Bauman College. I think this is a serious progress in the field of education and mutual support,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan.

According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, special attention will be paid to joint strategic projects aimed at expanding production cooperation and creating new jobs. The parties also intend to deepen cooperation in the fields of digitalization and space.

“We discussed in detail the expansion of production cooperation. In this direction our countries have already completed 13 major projects. Eight projects worth more than US$2.5 billion are at the stage of implementation. 11 more projects are being worked out, with a total investment of almost US$1.5 billion,” stated Kazakh President.

During the talks, the leaders of the two countries noted that the volume of trade has increased significantly. Last year, it amounted to US$21 billion, exceeding the pre-pandemic level. In addition, Russian companies are among the top five investors in the economy of Kazakhstan. The total amount is US$17 billion.

“Russia is an undisputed leader in Kazakhstan in the number of enterprises with foreign capital. Every third of them is created with the participation of Russian companies. The overall investment portfolio is actively seen in almost all industries,” stressed Kazakh President.
