Senate ratifies terms and procedures for placement of Turkic Academy

Strengthening cooperation with the countries of the Council of Turkic Speaking States and increasing the role of Kazakhstan in the Turkic world - the Senators adopted a bill aimed at ratifying the conditions and arrangements of the location of the Turkic Academy in the capital. Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov presented the document in the Senate. According to him, the agreement provides for the definition of the status, privileges, immunity of the Turkic Academy - its property and the legal status of personnel during the period of activity in Kazakhstan.

“This academy has existed for more than 10 years and operates quite well in a regular mode. Therefore, after the adoption of today's law, there will be no change in the very structure of the academy, or in its policy, because this law enshrines the issues of immunity, benefits and strengthens the work of the academy's headquarters only in the city of Nur-Sultan,” Aimagambetov said.

The agreement on the establishment of the Turkic Academy was signed on August 23, 2012 in Bishkek during the second Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States. Kazakhstan ratified the document two years later on October 15, 2014. On August 28 of the same year, the Turkic Academy was registered and accredited as an international organization in Kazakhstan.
