Kazakh President takes part in elections of member to Mazhilis from Kazakhstan’s Ethnic Assembly

Kasym-Jomart Tokayev took part and voted in the elections of the Mazhilis deputy, elected from the Kazakhstan Ethnic Assembly. After that, the President held a meeting with the proxy persons of the candidates. The Head of State noted that in connection with the forthcoming adoption of amendments to the Constitution, it is the last time the voting is taking place in this format. “But Kazakhstan People’s Assembly will be represented in our Parliament properly,” Kasym-Jomart Tokayev stressed. Earlier, the President in his Address proposed amendments to the Constitution. Whereas, the Ethic Assembly’s quota will be transferred from the Mazhilis to the Senate and the number of deputies will be reduced from 9 to 5.
