Kazakh government announces measures to implement K. Tokayev’s instructions

Kazakhstan will develop a comprehensive plan for the development of sugar industry. This was announced at a government meeting by Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev. He noted that the document provides a number of specific tasks, including the expansion of sugar beet sown areas, introduction of water-saving irrigation technologies and development of seed production, as well as the construction and modernization of sugar factories. In his report, the Minister also focused on other issues for import substitution of goods.

“In general, by the end of 2022, it is planned to implement 237 investment projects for the development of the agro-industrial complex in the amount of 295 billion tenge, including 81 projects worth 128.5 billion tenge for 6 types of imported items. Concessional lending, subsidies, land resources and infrastructure will be provided for the implementation of these projects,” said Yerbol Karashukeyev, the Kazakh Minister of Agriculture.

Kazakh Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov announced the creation of the Unified information system for the formation of the core commodities’ balance jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture. He also promised to take personal control of the food safety program development.

“It will revise approaches to subsidizing and providing other measures to support the industry in terms of securing counter obligations of manufacturers to saturate the domestic market. Emphasis will be placed on the early emergence of concrete and productive manufacturers,” said Bakhyt Sultanov, the Kazakh Minister of Trade and Integration.

At the end of the government meeting, PM Alikhan Smailov urged the government agencies, mayor’s offices and the quasi-public sector to be as active as possible in their work. First of all, to establish clear interaction and work out each issue together.
