VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions to be held in 2025

The VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions can rightfully be called a global historical event. Chairperson of the Kazakh Senate Maulen Ashimbayev stated this during the opening of the 20th meeting of the Congress Secretariat. This is the first large-scale event since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. The topic of post-pandemic development is expected to be one of the major issues at the upcoming event, especially when the world is witnessing the rising tensions. In these conditions, the forum can send an important signal to the international community.

“The congress will let spiritual leaders communicate and discuss important issues of strengthening interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue, as well as negotiate the ways to tackle pressing issues of the world today,” Ashimbayev said.

The dialogue of spiritual leaders for the peace and well-being of all humankind will allow getting closer to the answers for the most pressing questions of our time, Ashimbayev noted. Also, the agenda of the upcoming event and the draft of the final Declaration were discussed at the meeting of the Congress Secretariat. In addition, it was announced that the next meeting of the secretariat will be held in the autumn of 2023, while the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is scheduled for 2025.
