Kazakh President chairs expanded government meeting

Preliminary results of the socio-economic development of Kazakhstan were summed up at an expanded government meeting chaired by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The Kazakh President stated that a lot of topical issues have accumulated in the country, including rising inflation.

«The recent presidential election demonstrated the support among citizens for the course pursued by the state. The people are waiting for real change, and not in the distant future, but here and now. And we must justify their trust. The Action Plan to implement the Election Program has been adopted. All of its activities should be implemented in a timely manner and in full scope. The work of each minister and governor will be assessed not based on statistical reports and records but on specific and tangible results,» Tokayev said.

The Government, along with the governors’ and mayors’ offices, have much work to do. The Head of State gave a number of instructions, particularly focusing on solving the issues of housing and communal services, updating the program to increase the income of the population, and developing the manufacturing industry, agro-industrial complex, and agro-processing sector. President Tokayev underlined that food security is a fundamental condition for Kazakhstan’s progress. He also noted that a nationwide project to develop agricultural cooperation will be launched next year. One trillion tenge will be allocated for this purpose. The project will cover more than one million rural residents.
