State visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov to Kazakhstan

A solemn ceremony on the occasion of the state visit by the President of Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan took place in Akorda. President Sadyr Japarov arrived in Nur-Sultan this morning.

After the ceremony, the heads of states held negotiations in a narrow format. When welcoming Sadyr Japarov, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the importance of his first state visit to the country as the President of Kyrgyzstan.

“Welcome. Your visit is of great importance. We hope that it will give a significant impetus to the further development of relations between the two countries. You have a tight and informative agenda. Today we will exchange views on the most pressing issues of cooperation. I am confident that the agreements we will achieve will serve the interests of our peoples”, said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan.

Sadyr Japarov, in turn, cited an excerpt from Zhuban Moldagaliev's poem, which symbolically reflects the proximity of the Kazakh and Kyrgyz peoples.

“Dear Kassym-Jomart Tokayev! I express my deep gratitude for the invitation to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan. I’d like to note that our peoples are very close, and this is reflected in the poem of the prominent Kazakh poet Zhuban Moldagaliev. ‘I am Kazakh, but Kyrgyz are close to me. And the fate tied us together. It may be that one black-eyed mother shared a piece of bread for two of us in childhood”, said Sadyr Japarov, President of Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, the leaders of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan considered a wide range of issues of bilateral partnership. In particular, they discussed key aspects of political, trade, economic and investment cooperation, joint efforts to combat coronavirus, as well as the interaction concerning the Eurasian integration.
