EXPO creative space opens up new facets of contemporary art

Modern sculptures, flower alleys, creative installations and photo zones, interactive libraries, as well as a photo exhibition of works by foreign and Kazakh artists. 12 unique expositions, including five permanent and seven temporary, were displayed at the territory of the EXPO in Nur-Sultan. The unique project is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence.

“We have local artists from the Eurasian Cultural Alliance Foundation here. We have been working with public art and tactical urbanism for many years. This is the improvement of the urban environment through sculptures, and these are the works that we somehow acquired. They belong to artists, but we take care of them, because sculptures should be shown and travel. The territory of QazExpoCongress is, of course, one of the best architectural sites in the country, that is, there are clean lines, a perfect place for such exhibitions,” said Vladislav Slutsky, an art consultant.

According to tourists, the works of art emphasize the unique creative atmosphere of the capital’s EXPO area, turning it into a modern open-air gallery. In turn, it attracts the attention of both residents and visitors of the city.

“I am more interested in objects that are suitable for photos, for example, this one is for Instagram. Open-air is more interesting than closed room because of bigger area and capacity for people. As a mother with children, I say that it is better for kids to run outside than be indoors,” shared a tourist Yana Gagin.

All events are held in compliance with all necessary sanitary rules, organizers said.

“We will hold various cultural events, which, I would note, does not mean gathering a large number of visitors, due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Maximum distancing is observed everywhere, including in the Nur Alem sphere,” added Daulet Yerkimbayev, First Deputy Chairperson of the QazExpoCongress National Company.

Summer activities on the EXPO territory will continue until the end of September.
