Kazakhstan wins 4 awards at Mobile Blockbuster Film Festival

Kazakhstan won four out of six main nominations at the Mobile Blockbuster film festival. The country received statuettes for “the Best Vertical Movie”, “People’s Choice Award”, ‘the Best Actress”, and “the Jury Prize”. This was announced by director of the film festival Dmitry Bainazarov during an interview. According to him, a total of 58 short films from 16 countries were submitted to the contest. In addition to Kazakhstan, these were Spain, South Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, Brazil, Russia, Bulgaria, Dominican Republic, Iran, Italy, France, Colombia, Chile and Kyrgyzstan. For the second year, the latter has been winning the main prize of the festival, a statuette for “the Best Movie” for the work “Present for Future”. The film festival takes place in Kazakhstan for the third time. Its popularity and importance only increases every year. The next competition is expected to be held in April 2022.

“We are the first and so far the only festival of mobile movies in Kazakhstan. For the second year in a row, one of the statuettes goes to Spain. Much more statuettes went abroad last year than remained in Kazakhstan. Apparently, after all, our Kazakhs made a progress and started to make films better and, this was noted by jury members,” Bainazarov said.
