Situation in Kazakhstan is stabilizing, National Security Committee says

At present, no acute destructive manifestations are recorded in Kazakhstan. Overall, the situation in the country is stabilizing, Yermek Sagimbayev, Chairman of the National Security Committee, reported at the regular meeting of the emergency response team chaired by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He noted that all security forces continue their operational activities as part of the anti-terrorist operation. Since its announcement, 412 pre-trial investigations have been launched, including on acts of terrorism and murder. In addition, in the last 24 hours, 38 people were detained by soldiers at checkpoints of 11 settlements. 23 of them were found to have small arms and edged weapons. Sagimbayev noted that the employees of the National Security Committee, together with the Border Service and with the support of the army air force, are now conducting reconnaissance and search operations in the mountainous areas. Following the meeting, President Tokayev noted the importance of continuing to work actively to restore public order and security in the country.
