Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games to take place from March 4 to 13

The 13th Paralympic Winter Games start on March 4 in Beijing. The organizers have already announced that they are fully prepared to host the main games of the four-year period. The competitions will be held in three different locations – Beijing, Yanqing District and Zhangjiakou city. Sports and other facilities have been adapted for the event. Also, more than 300,000 places were modernized in the capital of China. They were made available for people with disabilities.

“Eight sports venues and two Paralympic Villages are completely barrier-free. We also equipped 25 specialized hospitals, 60 hotels and seven Paralympic restaurants with barrier-free equipment,” Dong Lianmin, Vice Chairman of the Beijing Disabled Persons’ Federation said.

Around 700 athletes will take part in the Winter Paralympics. They will compete for 78 sets of medals in six sports – alpine and cross-country skiing, biathlon, snowboarding, sledge hockey and wheelchair curling. Five athletes will perform at the games from Kazakhstan.
