Astana Opera to promote Kazakh art abroad

The Astana Opera Theater has set a task to promote national art abroad and provide high quality training for opera singers. The theater’s current art manager, one of the most popular Italian conductors in the world Giuseppe Acquaviva will help achieve this lofty goal. The maestro’s partnership with the leading company in Kazakhstan’s art sphere - the Astana Opera, began 10 years ago. Over the years, he has conducted a number of major operas and ballets on the stage. Among his brilliant works are the famous ballet ‘Romeo and Juliet’ by Sergei Prokofiev and ‘Madama Butterfly’ opera by Giacomo Puccini. Also, thanks to the maestro, foreign audiences got acquainted with the masterpiece of national classics - the opera ‘Abai’ by Akhmet Zhubanov.

“Abai” was a performance that I personally staged in Italy. This proves that art is a universal language. I was interested in the Italian public getting acquainted with the opera created here in Kazakhstan, interpreted in excellent quality. And I will not hide that, at the beginning, I did not know how the Italian public would welcome a performance of this kind. But it was a big, colossal success. In addition to Italy, we presented it in such countries as Oman and Spain,” Acquaviva said.

Giuseppe Acquaviva holds a dozen of international awards and is the winner of many prestigious competitions. The famous Italian conductor closely cooperates with theaters around the world, and hopes to continue the successful partnership with the Astana Opera Theater in the capital.

“I expect a lot from our cooperation. This is a close cooperation with your artists, with your directorate, with your musical directorate, with your conductors and soloists, whom I can help, as a specialist from Italy. The works of Italian authors such as Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Gioachino Rossini, Domenico Cimarosa, Gaetano Donizetti are represented here. I hope that our cooperation will further reveal the uniqueness of this theater, which is one of the few theaters in the world with such a rich scenographic heritage, technical capabilities, an excellent ballet troupe with a very high level of performance, which could become a model not only in Eurasia, but across the world. I say this based on my many years of experience that I have in this area,” the art manager added.
