Folk crafts to help develop potential of Kazakhstan’s tourism industry

Craftspeople can make a valuable contribution to the enrichment of Kazakhstan’s tourist map and tour packages provided for travelers. Managing Director of the Kazakh Tourism National Company Daniel Serzhanuly said this in an exclusive interview to Qazaq TV. Diverse nature, well-developed infrastructure, and high level of service are the basis to attract tourists from abroad. Yet, craftspeople’s products made in the national style, teaching the ancient techniques of folk crafts will make any offerings unique. As Daniel Serzhanuly said, the company has been carefully studying this topic over the past few years. Now it plans to hold discussion with professionals of handicrafts at a special forum, which will be held this year already. In the future, they intend to hold this event regularly.

“Today the issue related to handicrafts, development and preservation of folk crafts is very important. We want to hold a Forum of craftspeople to discuss the prospects of the sector and the interaction of specialists. The event will help to find out what problems do the masters have, learn how folk crafts can fit into the tourism industry and diversify the proposals for travelers in order to increase the attractiveness of our country among tourists,” said Daniel Serzhanuly, Managing Director of the Kazakh Tourism National Company.
