New hiking routes devised in Nur-Sultan

A two-century chronicle of the formation and development of the old part of Kazakhstan’s main city in one travel guide. A tourist route worked out specifically for hikers allows exploring the history of the capital and see cultural and architectural sights. It covers more than 40 monuments located on the central streets of the city’s modern district Saryarka. It includes the Akmola fortress preserved from the capital’s formation, various monuments, museums and famous ancient merchant buildings. The travel guide offers travelers two types of hiking routes, a short one and a more extended one. The first one lasts about an hour, the second one takes twice as long and covers almost all the famous historical monuments of the city. Audio guides are available to help map users for group and individual excursions.

“A publicly available information pylon is located on the square of the First President near the monument of Kerei and Zhanibek – the founders of the Kazakh Khanate. Besides, an audio guide is integrated into the route, which means that during a walk, when people come to a certain monument, the plate shows a QR code. You can scan it and listen to the information in the audio guide in three languages – Russian, Kazakh and English,” said project author Temirtas Iskakov.
