Almaty mayor briefs Tokayev on city development

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was briefed on the social and economic situation in Almaty. The short-term economic indicator has risen to 107 percent, and investment in fixed assets has grown to over 21 percent since the beginning of the year, the city’s mayor Yerbolat Dossayev said. Economic growth rates after the January events are expected to fully recover at the beginning of the second half of the year. The mayor reported on compensation for damage to businesspeople. 1,556 applications worth about 14 billion tenge (US$32.3 million) were approved to date. Almost all entrepreneurs who suffered losses restored their work.
