Kazakh President receives Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev. He reported to the Head of State on the visits of MPs to the regions to discuss with the population the proposed amendments and additions to the Constitution and the upcoming referendum. Also, the Chairperson of the Upper House told President Tokayev about strengthening cooperation with the legislative bodies of the Central Asian countries. Close interaction will effectively solve urgent regional issues, such as the environmental situation of the Aral Sea, the joint use of transboundary rivers, as well as security issues, in particular, over the situation in Afghanistan.
