Kazakhstan celebrates Abai Day on August 10

Today, Kazakh citizens celebrate the 177th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet and philosopher Abai Kunanbaiuly. Two years ago, August 10 was declared Day of Abai and this date was included in the official list of holidays. On the occasion of the poet’s birthday, exhibitions, conferences and recitals take place in all regions of the country. For example, the National Academic Library in Nur-Sultan will hold a literary and musical evening “Abai tagylymy.” The Central Children’s and Youth Libarary’s book depository held “Abai’s World” book exhibition. A mobile exposition was organized in Almaty, where valuable exhibits relating to Abai’s life and work will be presented. A festive program will take place in the poet’s homeland in Semei. The Museum of Fine Arts named after the Nevzorov`s family will hold a vernissage dedicated to Abai Kunanbaiuly.
