Kazakhstan team wins first place at Rubik’s WCA Asian Championship 2022

Kazakhstan’s team became the champion at Rubik's WCA Asian Championship 2022. The competition took place in the country’s capital. The national team won five gold, six silver and two bronze medals, 13 awards in total. India won the second place, followed by China, which ranks third. It bears noting that 116 athletes from 13 countries competed for the champion title, including Japan, Mongolia and other states. The competition consisted of 17 disciplines, including classical, blindfolded and one-hand assembly of Rubik’s Cube. The youngest participant of the championship is only seven years old, and the oldest is 54 years of age. Kazakhstan is the first state among the CIS countries that received the right to host speedcubing competitions.

“Kazakhstan held its first competition in 2017 and showed good results. If at that time our record was nine seconds, which was considered the fastest, now it is 6.65 seconds. Each contestant tries to improve his previous result. They solve Rubik’s cubes 200-300 times per day in each discipline,” said championship participant Ali Akhatov.
