The movie “Fire” by Kazakh director Aizhan Kassymbek won the international competition of debut films held in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Alisher Zhadigerov’s film “Otau” also represented Kazakhstan in the competition and was awarded the prize for the best international debut feature film. Along with Kazakhstan, film directors from Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Serbia and other countries also presented their works at the festival. Iranian director, producer and screenwriter Mehdi Fard Ghaderi presided over the jury of this festival.

“We are very happy that we won the prize at the international competition. By the way, this film will continue to participate in various festivals around the world. Ahead are screenings in Madrid and Russia, as well as at the Muslim Film Festival in Kazan. Now we are also preparing the film for domestic release, as we receive a lot of good reviews. Many people say that this film is about ordinary citizens, so it definitely should get its big screen moment,” said Diana Ashimova, producer of film ‘Fire’.
