FIDE to share experience of integrating chess in schools with Kazakhstan

The International Chess Federation will share with Kazakhstan its successful experience of introducing chess into the school curriculum. This was discussed at a meeting of the Head of State with FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, who spoke about the first event of Women’s Grand Prix Series held in Astana. 12 of the global strongest chess players competed there. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that such events make a great contribution to the development of this sport in the country. At present, over 200,000 residents are engaged in chess, and more than 7,000 chess clubs are operating in Kazakhstan, the number of which is planned to be at least doubled in the future. A Road Map for the development of chess has been elaborated in the country. A large-scale project entitled ‘Chess in School’ is going to be launched as well.
