Taraz becomes first Kazakh city included in World Craft Cities list

Taraz is the first city in Kazakhstan to be included in the list of World Craft Cities. It bears noting that the application was submitted in 2022, and then 12 international experts visited the regional center in July. They highly evaluated the opportunities for the development of folk crafts and handicrafts in the Zhambyl region, as well as its tourism potential. The official decision to include the city in the prestigious list was announced at a specialized international exhibition, where it was noted that this will give a new impetus to the development of the cultural and spiritual sphere of the region and boost tourist influx. The World Craft Cities list was launched in 2014. At present, it includes over fifty cities.
