Kazakh Government approves Education Development Concept for 2022-2026

Kazakhstan will expand access to higher and postgraduate education. Students will be given long-term soft loans to pay tuition fees – at a rate of 2-3% per annum. The issue of student housing is also going to be addressed through a public-private partnership mechanism. Domestic construction companies will be involved. This was announced by Kazakh Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek at the government session. The concept of the development of education for 2022-2026 was presented at the meeting. It foresees the solution of several tasks, including the improvement of the quality of teacher training and the transition of Kazakhstan's higher education institutions towards the model of smart universities. The minister also added that the country plans to open branches of a number of foreign universities, as well as to continue work on the creation of a single Central Asian higher education area.

“Together with our partners, we are working on the establishment of a Bureau for Interaction of the Central Asian Countries on the platform of Kazakhstan. All initiatives on internationalization of higher and postgraduate education will form the basis of the “Intellectual “Silk way”, which is the international initiative of our country,” Nurbek noted.
