TURKSOY declares 2023 Year of Kazakh composer Temirbek Zhurgenov
Next year, the Turkic world will mark the 125th anniversary of Kazakh state and public figure Temirbek Zhurgenov, the 100th anniversary of Kazakh poet Muzafar Alimbayev and the 100th anniversary of Kazakh actress Biken Rimova. The given decision was made at a meeting of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY in Bursa, Turkey.
2023 has been declared the Year of Kazakh composer Temirbek Zhurgenov in the Turkic-speaking countries. The 125th anniversary of the public figure who made a significant contribution to the Kazakh culture, literature and art will be widely celebrated within the TURKSOY International Organization of Turkic Culture. The relevant agreement was reached between the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Sports and the member states of the organization.
“At the initiative of Kazakhstan, it was proposed to hold events dedicated to the 125th anniversary of honored cultural figure and famous composer Temirbek Zhurgenov within the TURKSOY in 2023. We are also going to promote the heritage of our actress Biken Rimova, as well as poet and writer Muzafar Alimbayev in the Turkic-speaking countries,” Roza Karibzhanova, spokesperson for the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Sports, said.
Besides, the meeting ended up with the decision to mark the 30th anniversary of the TURKSOY establishment in 2023. It is also planned to implement a number of projects in several areas. Next year, the Azerbaijani city of Shusha will become the cultural capital of the Turkic world.
“We have made some important decisions to promote the culture of the Turkic world. Thus, Annau city in Turkmenistan has been declared the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024. In addition, the year 2024 will be held under the auspices of Magtymguly Pyragy, a Turkmen literature classic, scholar and philosopher. We are taking the necessary measures to preserve the cultural heritage of our nations,” said TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev.
The ‘Korkyt Ata’ International Film Festival of the Turkic World was also held in Bursa. More than 300 filmmakers and cultural figures took part in it. Viewers had the opportunity to watch the Kazakh-made film ‘Dos Mukasan’, the biographical drama ‘Mukagali’, the historical films ‘Dawn of the Great Steppe’ and ‘Ak boz ui’, the documentary film ‘Sovereigns of Eurasia’, the animated movie ‘Muzbalak’, and the film ‘Tarlan’, a co-production of Kazakhstan and Tatarstan.
