Kazakhstan holds presidential election

Kazakhstan is holding the early presidential election. Today, there are over 10,000 polling stations operating in the country. Almost 12 million Kazakh citizens have the right to cast their vote. Apart from that, 68 polling stations in 53 countries opened their doors for over 12,000 Kazakh voters abroad. The first voter turnout was recorded at polling stations in Japan and the Republic of Korea, next come Omsk, Bishkek, Delhi, Tashkent, Ashgabat, Islamabad and Dushanbe. It bears noting that six candidates are running for the presidency. These are Karakat Abden from the National Alliance of Professional Social Workers, Nurlan Auesbayev from the National Social Democratic Party, Zhiguli Dairabayev from the Auyl People’s Democratic Patriotic Party, Meiram Kazhyken from the Amanat Trade Unions Commonwealth, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev nominated by the People's Coalition, and Saltanat Tursynbekova from the public association ‘Kazakh analary - dasturge zhol’, which means ‘Kazakh mothers are a path to traditions’.
