Kazakh composer gains popularity in Hollywood

These melodies conquered Hollywood! The works of the Kazakh composer gained popularity in the US. Sergey Azbel is the author of tracks, which were featured in the trailers of such famous films as ‘Mulan’, ‘Captain Marvel’, ‘Ant-Man’, ‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’ and many others.

But the path to success and collaboration with famous Hollywood companies was not so easy. Azbel started out as an arranger and wrote music for computer games. However, he always strived to scale up his work.

“I got into a circle of trailer music composers. It’s a very closed group, and it’s very hard to get into, and then slowly, step by step, I began trying to show my work. I was invited to one label, then to another. Then I got my first placement and that’s when it all started. My name became well-known and I was invited to major companies that make trailer music for Hollywood,” said the composer.

This was the beginning of a new stage in the career of the Kazakh composer. Azbel’s music began to be selected and licensed. Although he has now moved back to Almaty, his work with foreign companies continues.

“Now I have several albums with Universal Production Music. It’s a guitar hybrid album I’m working on and I have to finish it by the end of May. We’re also working on an album for the U.S. label Easy Tracks. We compose music in the style of a drama crime piano. These are such tense piano tracks that would fit criminal dramas,” noted Azbel.

Kazakh filmmakers also got an opportunity to work with the talented composer. Azbel has already received several interesting offers from domestic companies. He even started composing music for one of the projects, and his work has already been highly rated by the producers.
