Nur-Sultan hosts evening in memory of public figure Myrzageldi Kemel

The memory of the well-known Kazakh public figure and writer Myrzageldi Kemel was honoured in Nur-Sultan. The Gumilyov Eurasian National University opened a lecture hall named after Kemel in a solemn ceremony. The event was dedicated to two anniversary dates, which are the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence, and the 25th anniversary of the university. The opening ceremony was attended by the members of the Mazhilis of the Kazakh Parliament, public figures, as well as Kemel’s colleagues and relatives. They shared memories of his life and work, noting that Kemel left behind a priceless treasure, namely a huge scientific book legacy. The author died at the age of 72 exactly one year ago on May 19.

“In addition to being an active scientist, Kemel is the author of numerous works. He wrote such books as the ‘Abzalddyk Alippesi’ (The ABC of Nobility) and ‘Akyl kaltasy’ (The Pocket of Intelligence). For example, the latter is still popular among Kazakh radio listeners. I am sure that his works, on which he worked for many years, will be useful for the younger generation,” said Kazybek Issa, Member of Mazhilis, the Lower House of Kazakh Parliament.

“This is the hall where he lectured. There is a whole collection of works written by our father. These books should become a kind of motivation for self-improvement for the younger generation. They call for the reevaluation of the way humans feel about themselves, how they treat the people around them,  their families. The books help find answers to many questions,” added Bakytzhan Kemel, son of Myrzageldi Kemel.
