President Tokayev visits social and industrial facilities in East Kazakhstan region

During his working visit to the East Kazakhstan region, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev toured the Center of Radiation Therapy and Diagnostics in Oskemen. He observed modern medical equipment facilitating high-precision early diagnosis and treatment of cancerous diseases. The center prioritizes the advanced training and retraining of medical personnel abroad, through regular masterclasses involving local and foreign specialists. In a conversation with the highly qualified medical staff, the Head of State emphasized the importance of creating such modern medical facilities in the country.

President Tokayev continued his tour with a visit to the Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium and Magnesium Plant, which plans to implement 25 investment projects totaling 207 billion tenge in the coming decades. This enterprise is one of the largest vertically integrated producers of titanium sponges, titanium ingots, and alloys in the world, with a full production cycle from raw material extraction to finished product manufacturing. Certified by major global manufacturers such as Airbus, Boeing, General Electric, its products are exported to the U.S., UK, France, South Korea, India, and China. They are used in shipbuilding, energy, aerospace, oil and gas industry, and medicine.

“The enterprise stands out in numerous aspects. It has modern equipment and contributes 11 percent to the global production. Kazakhstan holds a prominent position in the titanium market worldwide. I’m pleased to witness the team’s productivity and positive atmosphere. Wish you all the best,” Tokayev said.

Additionally, the Head of State visited an elite seed farm that has developed new hybrids of sunflower, soybean varieties and spring wheat through years of practical and scientific research activities. These seeds are in high demand among domestic farmers and are exported to seven regions of Russia.

At the East Kazakhstan Technical University, President Tokayev was briefed on the institution’s scientific and innovation ecosystem. According to the university rector, the Smart Engineering Competence Center aimed at developing import-substituting technologies in mechanical engineering and the mining and metallurgical complex was established there last year. The Head of State also learned about the Luban Workshop educational center within the university, which provides students with practical skills and conducts simulation tests of automotive systems. Special attention is given to studying new technologies for the maintenance and diagnostics of electric and hybrid vehicles. As reported to the President, one of the university’s goals is to train highly qualified technical and engineering personnel for Kazakhstan’s automotive industry at the workshop.
