It is not easy to be a writer. And it is even more difficult to write for and about children. However, there was a person in Kazakh literature, someone who was very fond of kids, who dedicated his works to them and became a great classic – and this man was Berdibek Sokpakbayev. Often, he is being named as the grandfather of Kazakh children’s literature. One of the most prominent works of the writer is his story called “My name is Kozha”.
Berdibek Sokpakbayev was born on the 15th of October, 1924 in the village of Narynkol, Almaty region. He graduated from Kazakh Pedagogical Institute and later finished Higher Literary courses in Moscow.
